Spectral Indices
This service provides 16 spectral indices as images for your specified area of interest.
Spectral indices provide metrics about a range of vegetation, soil, water and other different properties. Given an area of interest, the algorithm is run using Sentinel-2 to return the indices from the start date to the optional end date. The indices produced are:
- Clay Minerals (CM),
- Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI),
- Ferrous Minerals (FM),
- Green Vegetation Index (GVI),
- Iron Oxide (IO),
- Leaf Area Index (LAI),
- Modified Normalized Difference Water Index (MNDWI),
- Modified Triangular Vegetation Index - Improved (MTVII),
- Normalized Difference Mud Index (NDMI),
- Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI),
- Optimized Soil Adjusted Vegetation Index (OSAVI),
- Plant Senescence Reflectance Index (PSRI),
- Renormalized Difference Vegetation Index (RDVI),
- Red Edge Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (RENDVI),
- Red Green Ratio Index (RGRI) and WorldView Water Index (WWI).
The imagery is output as a series of GeoTIFF files, each with a single band representing the calculated indices. Pixel values are typically on a normalised scale (-1 to 1), although a small number of indices have different potential ranges of values. All GeoTIFF files are provided at native resolution of the inputs.
