Mixed Biomass Estimation (Multispectral)

Estimates the amount of pasture biomass for mixed crop types, providing 10m resolution maps and related data over your specified region of interest.

Use this service when you have a mixture of crops within your pasture. Other services are available for specific crop types. This service has been proven to estimate the amount of pasture biomass for mixed crop types. Given a region of interest, the algorithm is run using Sentinel-2 to return the total estimated biomass and average biomass per hectare for the area from the start date to the optional end date. The output is provided as a GeoTIFF showing the estimated biomass in kg per pixel. A preview image is also provided along with a CSV file giving the total and average estimated biomass per paddock/field.

Detecting and Monitoring Solar Farms

Large scale detection and monitoring of renewable energy sources

In order to mitigate the impacts of climate change and reduce the use of fossil fuels, the implementation and use of renewable energy sources is key. Remote sensing provides valuable monitoring of solar farms that enables their efficiency, and hence output, to be tracked over time at scale, efficiently from a distance. In this case study we demonstrate the automatic detection of some solar farms in the south of England and how regular monitoring using satellite thermal imaging reports on their efficiency.

Monitoring Wildfires

There is an increasing need for affordable, effective monitoring of the environment, with the recent wildfires in the western US states being only the latest example. Each year the number of wildfire outbreaks across the globe increases, as does the need for faster detection of fires and the ability to reliably monitoring them through degraded conditions. With forests covering millions of acres of land worldwide, satellite-based imaging services from D-CAT can play a key role in monitoring fire risk for all stakeholders, including fire-fighters.
