Frost Damage Detection

This service detects signs of frost-damage to crops after a frost event, including tree crops and vines, for a region of interest, and delivers a severity map along with associated statistics.

This service has been proven to detect the effects of frost damage in crops (cereals, legumes, tree crops and vines) after a frost event. Given a region of interest and the frost incident date, the algorithm is run using Sentinel-2 to return a relative frost damage map across that area. The output is provided as a GeoTIFF classifying frost damage (1) and no frost damage (0). A GeoTIFF is also provided which details the minimum temperature during the period covering +/-5 days around the incident date. A preview image is also provided along with an outline of the frost areas as a series of polygons (where the minimum size of the polygons can be optionally modified using the options). A CSV file is also output containing data for the whole area and individual fields/paddocks, which includes frost area and percentage.
